Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified offensive operations against terrorist groups in the North-West, rescuing kidnapped victims, foiling a fresh abduction attempt and arresting suspected terrorist logistics suppliers with 10 motorcycles in coordinated operations across Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi states.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, who said the successes were recorded during operations conducted on July 19 and 20, 2026.
According to the statement, troops responded swiftly to a distress call on July 20 from residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where terrorists had attempted to abduct civilians from a residence. The prompt intervention of the troops reportedly forced the attackers to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents. Troops subsequently dominated the area to prevent any further threat.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja further stated that on July 19, troops on patrol in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State rescued three kidnapped victims who escaped from a terrorist hideout after taking advantage of a heavy downpour while their captors slept. The victims, who were abducted on July 14, 2026, while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, were later handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops intercepted a vehicle conveying 10 motorcycles suspected to be destined for terrorist elements during a routine stop-and-search exercise in Kebbi State. Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects believed to have been sent to receive the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator.
The statement noted that the suspects and the recovered motorcycles remain in military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.

Lieutenant Colonel Danja commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and swift response in denying terrorists freedom of action, while also appreciating members of the public for providing timely and credible intelligence.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies as ongoing military operations sustain pressure on terrorist and criminal networks across the North-West theatre.
