Personnel of Forward Operating Base FORMOSO gathered on Sunday for an interdenominational thanksgiving service marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, with renewed calls for professionalism, discipline and loyalty in service to the nation.

The thanksgiving service, held at the Base Protestant Church under the leadership of Capt SK HARUNA, drew officers, ratings, civilian staff and friends of the Nigerian Navy who assembled to appreciate God for His guidance, protection and blessings upon the Service over the years.

Delivering the sermon, the Base Chaplain, Rev Lt Gimba Boaz, spoke on the theme, “Sail with Christ Onboard,” taken from St Luke 8:22–25, where he urged personnel to embrace faith, obedience and total loyalty to constitutional authority.

Rev Lt Gimba Boaz stressed that loyalty to God would naturally inspire loyalty to constituted authority and national values, while also highlighting the importance of peace, unity, cooperation and dedication to duty among personnel.
He further offered prayers for the continued progress and success of the Nigerian Navy and encouraged officers and ratings to remain steadfast in serving God and the nation faithfully.

Speaking after the sermon, Capt SK HARUNA conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of the Naval Staff to personnel of the Base, charging them to remain committed to professionalism, discipline, innovation and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.

According to the message, the responsibility of taking the Nigerian Navy to greater heights rests on all personnel, with emphasis placed on improving operational capabilities to effectively secure Nigeria’s maritime environment in support of national security and economic prosperity.
The event ended with a group photograph session and light refreshments for personnel and guests in attendance.
