NPF Cybercrime Centre, NDLEA Deepen Partnership Against Cyber-Enabled Crime

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have agreed to strengthen collaboration in tackling cyber-enabled crimes, with a focus on intelligence sharing, digital forensics, capacity building and joint operations.
According to the Police Public Relations Liaison Officer of the NPF-NCCC, DSP Unwana Imah, the agreement was reached on Tuesday during a visit by the Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), to the headquarters of the NPF-NCCC in Abuja.
The spokesperson said the visit was part of efforts by the NDLEA to understudy the operations of the cybercrime centre and identify areas of collaboration to boost the agency’s capacity to combat emerging technology-driven crimes.
Receiving the delegation, Director of the NPF-NCCC, Commissioner of Police Akaninyene Ezima, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to fostering strategic partnerships that would enhance national security and protect Nigeria’s cyberspace.
Ezima noted that criminal networks, including those engaged in drug trafficking, are increasingly exploiting digital platforms to perpetrate illegal activities, making closer cooperation among security agencies imperative.
He stressed that improved intelligence sharing, specialised training and coordinated operational responses were essential to effectively counter the evolving threats posed by cyber-enabled criminal enterprises.
Speaking during the visit, Marwa commended the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the NPF-NCCC, for its professionalism and successes in combating cybercrime.
He said the growing use of cyberspace by drug trafficking syndicates had compelled the NDLEA to strengthen its digital investigative capabilities, expressing confidence that collaboration with the police cybercrime centre would significantly enhance the agency’s operational effectiveness.
The meeting also featured discussions on intelligence exchange, digital forensic support, personnel training and other areas of operational cooperation aimed at combating cyber-enabled criminal activities.
The NPF reiterated that under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, it remains committed to strengthening partnerships with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to safeguard Nigeria’s digital ecosystem against emerging threats.
