The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a massive deployment of security assets to Plateau State following the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
The deployment, which includes tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, is aimed at restoring calm, preventing further violence, and ensuring the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
The police boss condemned the incident, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.
As part of immediate response measures, the IGP had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to the state.
The DIG is expected to assess the security situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and strengthen the existing security architecture in collaboration with other security agencies.
The Inspector General noted that the intensified operations would be sustained until normalcy is fully restored across affected communities.
He further directed all operational commanders to ensure visible policing and actively engage with vulnerable communities to boost public confidence.
The IGP also commiserated with the Plateau State Government and families of victims, particularly residents of the Angwan Rukuba community affected by the attack.
He called on members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.
The police chief urged citizens to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspicious activities to authorities to support ongoing efforts to restore peace in the state.
