As Christians across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Easter, the Defence Headquarters has called for heightened vigilance while assuring citizens of strengthened security measures across the country.
The military at its monthly press brief on Tuesday said the festive season, which typically witnesses increased travel and large gatherings, requires collective responsibility to ensure safety, urging Nigerians to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
It noted that security agencies have intensified surveillance and strategic deployments nationwide to prevent any breach of peace during the celebrations.
The Defence Headquarters emphasized that ongoing security operations have significantly reduced threats, contributing to the relative calm currently experienced in many parts of the country.
While reassuring the public of its readiness to respond to any security challenge, the military stressed that all necessary measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the Easter period.
Citizens were also encouraged to cooperate with security agencies and adhere to safety advisories to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
The DHQ reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring Nigerians that security forces remain on high alert before, during, and after the Easter festivities.
