POCACOV Rallies Anambra Education Ministry Ahead of IGP Representative’s Visit to Intensify Anti-Cultism Campaign

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Anambra State Chapter, has intensified efforts to curb cultism and other social vices by securing the support of the Anambra State Ministry of Education ahead of the planned visit of the Inspector-General of Police’s representative and National Coordinator of POCACOV to the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, following an advocacy visit by the POCACOV delegation to the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Longinus Ogugua, at the State Secretariat in Awka.
The delegation, led by His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Dr) Nnaemeka Ilouno Igwe Ifitedunu, said the planned visit of the Inspector-General of Police’s representative is aimed at strengthening the campaign against cultism, substance abuse, cybercrime, bullying and other social vices through sustained engagement with students, teachers, parents and other critical stakeholders across the state.
During the meeting, the team outlined a series of activities scheduled for the visit, including advocacy visits to government institutions, sensitisation programmes in schools, interactive sessions with students and youth groups, stakeholder engagements, media campaigns and community outreach initiatives designed to promote positive values and discourage criminal behaviour among young people.
Responding, Dr. Ekene Longinus Ogugua commended the Nigeria Police Force and POCACOV for adopting proactive and preventive measures in tackling crime through education, awareness creation and youth development.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to partnering with POCACOV to ensure the successful implementation of the programme across schools in Anambra State.
The Anambra State POCACOV team expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged to sustain collaboration with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to build a safer society where young people are empowered to make responsible life choices and contribute meaningfully to national development.
POCACOV, a flagship initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, focuses on preventing crime through advocacy, mentorship and community partnerships, with emphasis on addressing the root causes of cultism and other social vices before they develop into criminal activities.
