The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Chidi Ebere, for allegedly murdering a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa.
The command, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on Thursday, said the incident occurred on April 8, 2026, at about 7 a.m.
According to the statement, the suspect boarded the motorcycle operated by the victim, Sunday Ogbu, 36, and attacked him in a bid to snatch the bike.
The police said the attack resulted in a struggle, during which the victim sustained injuries.
“A witness at the scene raised the alarm, prompting police to rush to the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” the statement read.
The suspect was arrested immediately, while the motorcycle and knife used in the attack were recovered.

The police added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that justice would be served, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
