Police Arrest Suspected Robber in Lagos, Recover Human Body Part, Firearms, Stolen Items

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, recovering a suspected human body part, firearms and other items believed to have been stolen in recent criminal operations.
The arrest, according to a statement signed by SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, and dated 26th June, 2026, followed the interception of an unregistered commercial shuttle bus conveying six occupants, during which one of the passengers, identified as Samson Onilewaji, was singled out after a search allegedly uncovered disturbing exhibits in his possession.
Items recovered from the suspect include a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, one POS terminal machine and five ATM cards.
According to the police, the suspect confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their personal belongings, including the recovered POS terminal machine and ATM cards. Authorities said efforts are underway to trace and contact the affected victims for the return of the recovered property.
The Command further disclosed that investigations have commenced to establish the identity of the owner of the recovered suspected human hand, determine the circumstances surrounding its possession and uncover its intended use.
Police authorities added that efforts are being intensified to identify and apprehend other suspected criminal associates linked to the case, noting that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and maintaining public safety across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support crime prevention efforts.
