Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected notorious cultists and recovered two firearms, ten live cartridges and a jack knife during a covert operation in the Egbeda area of Lagos, in what authorities described as a major breakthrough against cult-related violence and criminal activities in Alimosho and its environs.
The arrests followed credible intelligence that suspected cult members were conducting an initiation ceremony at midnight in Egbeda.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives swiftly launched a covert operation that led to the apprehension of Nurudeen Ganiu, 34; Oluwaleke Fagbula, 38; Emmanuel Silas, 41; and Nurudeen Abdullahi, 41.

During the operation, police recovered one locally made cut-to-size pistol, one English Beretta pistol loaded with ten live ammunition and a jack knife from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations, according to the command, revealed that one of the suspects is a notorious cult gang kingpin and a rusticated student of a university in Ogun State who was allegedly expelled in 2022 over cult-related activities.
The police further disclosed that investigations established that the gang had been involved in thuggery and had allegedly terrorised residents of Egbeda and surrounding communities for some time.
According to the command, the suspects confessed to being active members of the Eiye Confraternity, a notorious secret cult group. The gang was said to operate by using motorcycles to launch attacks on unsuspecting members of the public and disrupt gatherings at gunpoint.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, which resulted in the successful operation.
He reassured residents that the command remains committed to combating cultism and all forms of violent crime across the state, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
SP Abimbola Adebisi stated that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents across Lagos State.
