Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police’s Violent Crime Response Unit attached to the Anambra State Police Command have recovered two AK-47 magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and other police-related items during a raid on a suspected cultists’ hideout in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the operation was carried out on the evening of June 20 during a sustained intelligence-led raid on a notorious black spot at Nwaziki Street, Awada.
Ikenga said although no suspect was arrested during the operation, investigations had commenced to identify and apprehend those who fled the scene, establish ownership of the recovered exhibits and dismantle any criminal network linked to them.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their proactive efforts and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive raids against criminal elements and their hideouts across the state.
