Remi Tinubu Urges Police Officers’ Wives To Prioritise Resilience, Wellbeing

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged wives of police officers to remain resilient in the face of life’s challenges while prioritising their health, mental wellbeing and personal development as they continue to support their families and the nation.
Represented by Mrs. Lilian Oghogho Musa at the 2026 Annual General Convention of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) held on Thursday at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja, the First Lady said the sacrifices, patience and encouragement of police officers’ wives provide the stability that enables their husbands to effectively discharge their duties.
She commended the National President of POWA, Chief (Mrs.) Mutiat Oluwafunmilola Disu, for organising the convention, describing it as a platform that promotes unity, mutual support and shared learning among members.
Speaking on the convention’s theme, “The Resilient Woman: Navigating Life’s Challenges with Strength, Purpose and Grace,” Tinubu said it reflects the daily realities of Nigerian women, particularly those married to police officers who often shoulder family responsibilities while their spouses are away on official assignments.
The First Lady noted that while police officers’ wives continue to play vital roles in supporting their husbands, their own health and mental wellbeing deserve equal attention, stressing that programmes such as the convention provide opportunities to address those needs.
She encouraged participants to use the gathering to learn from one another, build lasting relationships and return to their respective states with renewed purpose and determination.
Tinubu also urged women to continue acquiring new skills, supporting one another and creating opportunities that improve the wellbeing of their families and communities, noting that empowering women has far-reaching benefits beyond the home.
She congratulated Chief (Mrs.) Mutiat Oluwafunmilola Disu and the POWA executive members for successfully organising the convention before formally declaring the 2026 Police Officers’ Wives Association Annual General Convention open.
