President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), in Lagos as the Federal Government reviews ongoing military operations and broader strategies to strengthen national security.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Residence in Lagos, focused on the national defence framework, progress in counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations, as well as measures to strengthen inter-agency security coordination.
According to a statement signed by Leah Katung-Babatunde, Special Adviser, Media, to the Minister of Defence, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded in securing vulnerable communities across the country.
The President, the statement said, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing full support to the Ministry of Defence and the nation’s security architecture.
It said Musa briefed the President on ongoing defence initiatives, frontline operational logistics and proposed reforms aimed at improving troop morale, modernising military hardware and strengthening military infrastructure across the country.
The Minister also expressed appreciation to the President for his continued guidance and support for the nation’s security agencies.
Musa assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Defence remained committed to fulfilling its mandate with “firm resolve and integrity.”
The meeting, according to the statement, formed part of the President’s continuing security briefings and policy alignment sessions with key government officials aimed at ensuring decisive action against security and economic challenges confronting the country.
