Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, have thwarted an alleged Boko Haram/ISWAP extortion mission in Yobe State, neutralising one terrorist and recovering weapons, ammunition and logistics items in a fresh intelligence-led operation aimed at cutting off the insurgents’ funding sources.
The operation was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, who said the troops acted on credible intelligence to intercept terrorists allegedly on their way to collect illegal levies from local communities.

According to the statement, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukarti, working in conjunction with the 27 Task Force Brigade, launched an aggressive fighting patrol along the Paya Kafiya axis on July 19, 2026, following intelligence on the movement of two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles conveying suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members.
The troops reportedly made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower, successfully immobilising one of the Volkswagen Golf vehicles and neutralising its driver.

Four other terrorists were said to have abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes with gunshot wounds after being overwhelmed by the troops.
Captain Goni stated that follow-up exploitation operations carried out on July 20 along the Paya Kafiya-Garin Gada axis led to the recovery of the abandoned Volkswagen Golf vehicle, 25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition, one loaded AK-47 magazine, 15 empty PKT ammunition cases, assorted drugs, including paracetamol and nicotine products, as well as mechanical tools believed to have supported terrorist logistics and sustainment activities.
He noted that the operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven military operations in disrupting terrorist logistics and dismantling illicit revenue networks used by Boko Haram/ISWAP to sustain their activities.

The military reaffirmed that Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements through intelligence-led offensives, in collaboration with other security agencies and with the support of law-abiding citizens, until lasting peace, security and stability are restored across the North-East.
