Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded fresh operational gains in the North-East after neutralising multiple improvised explosive devices, repelling terrorist movements and intercepting suspected logistics suppliers linked to insurgent groups in coordinated operations carried out across the theatre.
The operations, conducted between 16 and 19 June 2026, underscored renewed military pressure on terrorist networks, with security forces disrupting mobility routes, cutting supply channels and recovering operational materials used to sustain insurgent activities.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Goni, Captain, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, working alongside the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), acted on intelligence from local residents over the emplacement of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Biu–Buratai Road.

According to the statement, troops launched a fighting patrol to the location on 16 June 2026 and successfully identified and professionally detonated five IED cylinders planted by terrorists along the route without recording any casualty before returning safely to base.
In another operation on 17 June 2026, troops of the 153 Task Force Battalion reportedly engaged terrorists along the Miyanti–Ngoshe axis while withdrawing from picketing duty in Kirawa.

The troops encountered an unconfirmed number of terrorists riding on about 60 motorcycles. Although the insurgents initiated contact with gunfire, troops responded with sustained firepower, forcing them to retreat towards Miyanti.
Following the encounter, troops recovered 817 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, two solar panels, 102 sachets of salt, one motorcycle tyre, two motorcycle tubes and additional motorcycle spare parts.

Further tightening the noose on insurgent logistics networks, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison on 19 June 2026 intercepted two suspected Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State West Africa Province (BHT/ISWAP) logistics suppliers during a routine stop-and-search operation.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Bukar, also known as “Dege”, aged 35, and his apprentice, Iliyasu Abdullahi, aged 26, were arrested inside a cyan Volkswagen vehicle with registration number FGF-357-AG while allegedly transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and relief materials intended for BHT/ISWAP elements.

Operation HADIN KAI said the outcomes of the operations reaffirm troops’ commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action, disrupting their supply chains and safeguarding law-abiding citizens, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
