The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all sections of the highway to ease movement during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The directive, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Francis Nwaze, is aimed at ensuring safer and smoother travel for commuters using the busy corridor during the festive period.
The minister said the decision followed growing traffic pressure on the road as Nigerians prepare for the Sallah celebrations.

Umahi also confirmed that the earlier accident recorded along the route had been completely cleared to restore free flow of traffic.
The statement further disclosed that security agencies had been deployed to strategic locations along the highway to maintain law and order and guarantee the safety of road users throughout the festive season.
The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway remains one of the country’s busiest road corridors linking the North-West and the Federal Capital Territory.
