The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspects over alleged armed robbery, drug peddling and cult-related activities, recovering a firearm, ammunition, illicit drugs and other incriminating items.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (VCRU) made the arrests during separate operations conducted on June 19, 2026.
Ikenga disclosed that operatives on patrol along the Igbariam/Achalla Road intercepted and arrested two suspects identified as Williams Ndifon and David Missang, both aged 27.
He said the suspects were riding on a Daylong motorcycle when they were stopped and searched by the operatives.

Items recovered from them included a locally made Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, six GSM phones, two power banks, a sledgehammer, a chisel used as a metal-cracking tool, quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, and a black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF).”

The police spokesman further revealed that in a related operation conducted at about 6 p.m. on the same day, operatives acting on intelligence arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Oluchukwu Onyekwe, at Agukwu Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.
According to him, the suspect was found in possession of quantities of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.

“Preliminary investigations also linked the suspect to cult-related activities in the area,” Ikenga stated.
He added that the suspect remains in police custody while further interrogation and investigation continue.
The command urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to enhance public safety and security across the state.
