The mysterious death of a 23-year-old nursing student in her residence at Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has triggered a full-scale police investigation, with the landlord of the property already taken into custody for interrogation.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed investigators to fast-track inquiries into the suspected murder following the discovery of the student’s lifeless body under circumstances suggesting foul play.

The directive came after the case was transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for what the Command described as a comprehensive and discreet investigation.
The incident was reported on June 14, 2026, after the deceased was found dead within the compound where she lived as a tenant.
According to police findings, operatives who visited the scene observed a deep cut on the victim’s thigh, other visible marks of violence on her body and blood stains around the area, raising strong suspicions that she may have been murdered.
Further investigations revealed that the deceased was a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
As part of ongoing efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death, police authorities confirmed that the landlord of the premises has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing interrogation.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited in a hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
CP Orutugu has ordered a thorough and professional investigation into the case, charging detectives handling the matter to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the facts and ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Police Commissioner also reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to securing justice for the deceased and urged members of the public with useful information to assist investigators by coming forward.
