AWKA – The Anambra State Police Command has seen a significant boost in personnel morale following the decoration of nine newly promoted officers at the start of 2026.
The ceremony was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Friday during the First Commissioner of Police Conference for Strategic Officers, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka. The promotions were granted following approval from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner praised the Command’s personnel for their professionalism during the 2025 yuletide security operations.
CP Orutugu urged the newly promoted officers to remain proactive and courageous. “Officers must work strictly within the guidelines of the Nigeria Police Act and maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption,” Ikenga quoted the CP. The Commissioner further noted that elevation in rank brings increased accountability and a greater demand for exemplary leadership.

Noteworthy Promotions and Directives
Among those elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) are:
- SP Adedeji Anietie
- SP Andrew Gabriel
- SP Emmanuel Nnaemeka
- SP Adeyemi Lateef
- Five other senior officers.
During the event, CP Orutugu also reiterated the IGP’s standing directives regarding the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs and the continued suspension of enforcement on tinted glass vehicles until further notice.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, CSP Andrew Gabriel expressed deep appreciation to the IGP, the PSC, and the Anambra State Police Command for the recognition. He pledged a renewed commitment to discipline and professional service to the citizens of the state.
