The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to intensify intelligence-led air operations against terrorists and bandits, declaring zero tolerance for complacency across operational commands.
Aneke gave the directive during a strategic operational visit to Bauchi State on April 29, 2026, where he addressed personnel at the Headquarters Special Operations Command (SOC) and co-located units.

Speaking during a durbar with officers and airmen, the CAS emphasised the need to align strategic objectives with operational execution, stressing that the Special Operations Command remains central to national security efforts.

“This Command remains central to safeguarding our sovereignty and delivering decisive airpower in support of ongoing operations. We will keep our eyes open so our citizens can sleep with theirs closed,” he said.
Reiterating his command philosophy, Aneke directed that all NAF operations must remain intelligence-driven, precise and outcome-focused, noting that every mission must produce measurable impact in neutralising threats.
“Every mission must count. Our operations must be intelligence-led and outcome-focused to decisively defeat all threats to national security,” he added.
He commended personnel for their resilience and professionalism, stating that their efforts have contributed significantly to recent operational successes, improved force protection and enhanced responsiveness to evolving security challenges.

As part of the visit, the CAS conducted a comprehensive inspection of operational equipment, facilities and infrastructure within the Command, aimed at assessing readiness levels and identifying areas for improvement.
He stressed that sustained operational effectiveness depends on the serviceability of platforms, systems and support infrastructure, adding that all assets must remain mission-ready to support ongoing and future operations.
In furtherance of civil-military relations, Aneke also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, where he underscored the importance of community cooperation in achieving sustainable security outcomes.
“Winning the trust of the people remains essential to achieving sustainable security outcomes,” he said.
In his response, the Emir commended the Air Force for its efforts in protecting communities, noting that its operations have continued to strengthen public confidence and contribute to peace and stability.

The CAS further disclosed that the NAF is accelerating efforts to enhance operational capability through the acquisition of modern platforms and advanced intelligence systems, alongside ongoing training programmes to build personnel capacity.
He maintained that operational readiness remains non-negotiable, warning commanders against complacency.
“Under my leadership, complacency will not be tolerated. Commanders must lead with courage, discipline and accountability at all times,” he said.

Aneke also assured personnel of continued improvements in welfare and infrastructure, including plans to expand residential accommodation and upgrade living conditions across NAF locations.
The Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Ahmed Idris, affirmed that the Command remains aligned with the CAS’ directives and is sustaining a high operational tempo to deliver decisive airpower effects.
