Community Policing: Ogun CP Woos Traditional Rulers, Councils, Corporate Stakeholders

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has intensified efforts to strengthen community policing with a strategic familiarisation tour of the Ikenne and Isara Area Commands, where he engaged traditional rulers, local government officials, corporate organisations, community leaders and police personnel on improved security collaboration.
The visit, according to the Police Command, forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen public confidence, promote intelligence-led policing and strengthen partnerships aimed at tackling crime across the Remo axis of the state.
Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team and the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ogun State, Comrade Abdullahi Lawal, the commissioner first visited the Ikenne Area Command, where he was received by the Area Commander, ACP Sadiq Mana, alongside the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Asimu Jamiu, President of the Ikenne Development Association, Otunba Olufemi Allen, and other stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, CP Ojajuni stressed that effective policing depends on active community participation and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
The police chief also visited Remo Stars Football Club, where he was received by the club’s President, Hon. Kunle Soname. He commended the club for its contributions to youth empowerment, sports development and economic growth, describing meaningful youth engagement as a critical strategy for crime prevention.
As part of the tour, the commissioner paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Odemo of Isara, Oba Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo (Otete III), where he sought the continued support of the traditional institution in promoting intelligence gathering and community policing.
The monarch reaffirmed the commitment of traditional rulers in the area to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in sustaining peace and security.
CP Ojajuni, alongside the Odemo of Isara, the Onipara of Ipara, Oba Taiwo Taiwo, and other stakeholders, also inspected the permanent site of the proposed Isara Area Command Headquarters.
He said the completion of the project would improve operational efficiency and enhance policing within the area.
During the visit, the Isara Growth and Prosperity Foundation donated a patrol vehicle to the Isara Area Command.
The commissioner described the donation as a shining example of community partnership, noting that it would improve the command’s operational mobility and response to security incidents.
At the Isara Area Command, where he was received by the Area Commander, ACP Nurudeen Ali Amodu, Chairman of Remo North Local Government, Hon. Sodade Ayodele Olumuyiwa, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, the police commissioner reiterated that security remains a collective responsibility.
He urged residents and community leaders to sustain intelligence sharing with security agencies while charging officers and men of the command to remain disciplined, professional and proactive in the discharge of their duties.
CP Ojajuni also commissioned the temporary office of the Isara Area Command, describing it as a major step towards expanding police presence and bringing quality policing closer to the people.
According to him, the new area command would improve operational coordination, reduce response time and strengthen security across Remo North and neighbouring communities.
The tour ended with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi Saliu (Kankanbiina II), who commended the Ogun State Police Command for its proactive security initiatives and pledged the continued support of the Ogere community in the fight against crime.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, CP Ojajuni expressed appreciation to traditional institutions, local government authorities, corporate organisations, community associations and residents for their continued support in maintaining peace and security across Ogun State.
