CP Bode Ojajuni Rallies Traditional Rulers, Stakeholders on Community Policing During Ogbere Visit

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has intensified efforts to strengthen security across Ogun State by rallying traditional rulers, community leaders, local government officials and other stakeholders to deepen collaboration with the Police in tackling crime through intelligence-led policing.
The call was made during a strategic familiarisation visit to the Ogbere Area Command, according to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, anipr, on Monday.
Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team, CP Ojajuni began the visit with a courtesy call on the palace of the Oloko of Ijebu-Imusin, His Royal Majesty Oba S.A. Onafowokan, where he was received alongside His Royal Majesty Oba M.A. Adenaike, the Oyebola of Igbaga; His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr.) I.O. Ajede, the Ogirimadagbo of Ilodo; His Royal Majesty Oba B.J. Adetola, the Kunnusi of Idokunnusi, and members of the Council of Chiefs.
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, the Oloko of Ijebu-Imusin described the visit as historic, noting that CP Ojajuni is the first serving Commissioner of Police to officially visit the community. He commended the Police Commissioner for the operational successes recorded under his leadership, particularly in foiling kidnapping attempts, recovering illegal firearms and retrieving stolen vehicles, while pledging the continued support of the traditional institution.
Responding, CP Ojajuni appreciated the royal fathers for their support and briefed them on the achievements of Operation Kosaye, saying the initiative has strengthened the Command’s ability to combat violent crime and improve security along border communities. He stressed the importance of timely intelligence gathering and information sharing in preventing crime and called for sustained collaboration with traditional institutions.
The Police Commissioner also visited the palace of the Moyegeso of Itele, His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr.) Mufutau Kasali, MFR, where the monarch described him as the first serving Commissioner of Police to officially visit Itele and commended his inclusive approach to policing across Ogun State.
At the Ogbere Area Command Headquarters, CP Ojajuni was received by the Area Commander, ACP Sunday Oluwadare, alongside officers and personnel of the Command. The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde; the Secretary to Ogun Waterside Local Government, Alhaji Okuwoga Adeyinka, representing the Executive Chairman; traditional rulers, representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Ogbere Forest Guards, religious leaders and leaders of the Igbo and Hausa/Fulani communities.
Addressing stakeholders, the Commissioner commended the local government leadership for supporting security operations and praised the level of cooperation among security agencies in the Ogbere axis, noting that the partnership has continued to address security challenges despite the vast geographical nature of the area.
He reaffirmed that Operation Kosaye has reinforced Ogun State’s resolve against criminality, declaring that the Command would continue to deny criminals operating space within the state and along its borders.
CP Ojajuni further urged residents to embrace community policing by partnering with security agencies, describing security as a shared responsibility. He encouraged members of the public to support the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Social Vices (POCACOV) and make effective use of the Gateway Shield platform by reporting suspicious activities, assuring them that all credible intelligence would receive prompt professional attention.
The Commissioner also paid a courtesy visit to the Ijebu East Local Government Secretariat, where he was received by Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde and members of the Local Government Management Team.
He commended the chairman for his support to the Police, particularly his participation in a recent joint security surveillance operation along the Ogun-Ondo State boundary corridor at Ogbere, describing it as a demonstration of purposeful leadership.
In his response, Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde praised the Commissioner’s proactive leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of the Ijebu East Local Government to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in sustaining peace, security and development across the area.
CP Ojajuni reiterated the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to building safer communities through professionalism, intelligence-led policing, strategic partnerships and sustained engagement with stakeholders.
