Delta NULGE Declares Three-Day Mourning for Two Branch Chairmen Killed in Auto Crash

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Delta State Council, has declared a three-day mourning period across all Local Government Councils in the state following the tragic death of two of its branch chairmen in a fatal road accident.
The declaration was announced by the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ogberetitinor Obatarhe, who said the mourning would run from Wednesday, July 22 to Friday, July 24, 2026, in honour of Comrade Nnamdi Memeh, Chairman of the Ika North East Branch, and Comrade Emmanuel Jolly Nwama, Chairman of the Ika South Branch.
According to the union, the two officials lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on July 21, 2026, while carrying out official union responsibilities.
As part of the mourning activities, NULGE directed all members across the state’s local government councils to wear black clothing and/or black armbands as a symbol of grief, respect and solidarity with the deceased and their families.
The union also ordered that all NULGE flags in local government councils across Delta State be flown at half-mast throughout the three-day mourning period.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, the State Executive Council and the entire NULGE family extended condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues and the affected local government councils, describing the deaths as a painful and irreparable loss.
The union prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased officials and for God to grant their families the strength to bear the tragedy.
