The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations in Ughelli North and Ika South Local Government Areas, recovering firearms, ammunition and other items during the raids.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, SP. BRIGHT EDAFE, and dated October 18, 2026, the arrests followed intelligence-led operations by operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) and the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU).

In the first operation, CP-SAT operatives arrested 29-year-old Thankgod Ejakpomewhe on October 16, 2026, while acting on intelligence about a suspected armed robbery syndicate allegedly terrorising Ujode Community in Ughelli North.
The police said a locally made long gun and one live cartridge were recovered during the operation. Other suspected members of the group reportedly fled, while efforts to apprehend them continued.

Four other suspects were arrested the previous day when SAKU operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout in Alisimen Community, Ika South Local Government Area.
The suspects were identified as Okwunzuwa Rubben, 28; John Onyeka, 42; Uzoma Ifeyinwa, 20; and Osas Atoe, 22.
The operation reportedly led to the recovery of a firearm described by the police as a double-barrelled pump-action gun, a laptop, six mobile phones, a camouflage cap and a jacket.
The police added that a subsequent search of the suspects’ residence yielded five rounds of live cartridges. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and preventing the illegal circulation of firearms.
He urged residents to support the police with credible and timely information, warning suspected criminals that they would face action within the law.
