The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs against kidnapping, armed robbery, gun-running and drug trafficking since the assumption of office of the 23rd Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola.
Briefing journalists in Asaba on Wednesday, CP Aina disclosed that operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) carried out intelligence-driven operations across Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states, leading to arrests, recovery of sophisticated firearms, ammunition and cash.
According to him, a notorious inter-state kidnapping and armed robbery suspect, Abubakar Mohammed, was arrested in Port Harcourt on December 29, 2025, following credible intelligence. He said the suspect led operatives to arms dumps in Bayelsa and Delta forests where one AK-47 rifle, one K-2 rifle, one pump-action gun, 157 rounds of ammunition and five magazines were recovered.

CP Aina further revealed that on January 6, 2026, operatives stormed Ohoror community along the Ughelli–Patani Road, where suspected kidnappers engaged the police in a gun duel, resulting in the death of one suspect, while one K-2 rifle and two locally-made guns were recovered.
“In another sting operation in Ughelli, three suspected gun runners were arrested with a pump-action gun and ₦280,000 cash, being part payment for an illegal arms deal,” he added.
The Commissioner also disclosed the arrest of suspected drug barons in Sapele and Warri, as well as the raid of a drug hideout along Sapele-Warri Road, Effurun, where quantities of illicit drugs were seized.
CP Aina reassured residents of Delta State of the command’s resolve to sustain the offensive against criminality and urged the public to continue supplying credible intelligence to the police.
