The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has called for enhanced collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to strengthen national security and intelligence operations.
Disu made the call during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the DSS at the Service headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
The IGP described the DSS as a critical but often unseen partner in security operations, stressing that successful missions across the country largely depend on intelligence support from the agency.

“No major operation can be successfully executed without the involvement of the DSS,” he said, underscoring the need for a more symbiotic working relationship between the two organisations.
He highlighted key areas of mutual interest to include election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, cybercrime, economic sabotage, and intelligence sharing.
The police boss also advocated joint training programmes to boost operational efficiency and deepen inter-agency cooperation.
Responding, the DSS Director-General commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Disu as IGP, noting that his experience and leadership qualities would further reposition the Police Force.
He also lauded the Federal Government’s efforts in renovating police training institutions nationwide.

The DSS boss assured that the Service would sustain intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Police, describing the partnership as a “priceless national asset.”
Disu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between both agencies to enhance national stability and institutional harmony.
