The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has commenced activities for the 2026 National Police Day with a community-focused sanitation exercise and medical outreach in Abuja.
The initiative, held in Area 1, forms part of a broader strategy to enhance police-community relations and promote public welfare.
Led by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammad, the programme targeted residents with essential healthcare services, particularly vulnerable groups.

The sanitation exercise, conducted alongside the outreach, underscores the link between environmental hygiene and public safety.
According to the Command, the initiative reflects a commitment to community-oriented policing and citizen engagement.

Residents who participated in the programme commended the effort, noting its impact on public health awareness.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said the activities mark the official commencement of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations in the territory.

She emphasised that the Command remains committed to service, partnership and people-centred policing.
The Command also called for sustained public cooperation in maintaining security across the FCT.

Razornews reports that such initiatives are critical in strengthening trust and improving policing outcomes in urban centres.
