In a show of operational preparedness and civil-military cooperation, Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO on Saturday conducted its Second Quarter Route March across Egweama and Liama Communities in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as part of efforts to strengthen combat readiness and sustain physical fitness among personnel.
The exercise, held in line with the Nigerian Navy 2026 Schedule of Events, drew active participation from officers, ratings, NYSC members serving at the Base, and host community security personnel, reflecting growing collaboration between the military formation and surrounding communities.

The route march formed part of routine military preparedness activities designed to improve endurance, sharpen response capability and ensure personnel remain fit to tackle emerging operational demands.
Addressing participants after the exercise, the Commanding Officer FOB FORMOSO, Capt SK Haruna, commended the turnout and dedication displayed throughout the march.

According to him, route marches remain a critical component of military training because of their role in building endurance, sustaining combat effectiveness and keeping personnel prepared for rapid operational deployment when required.

Capt Haruna also appreciated the participation of NYSC members and community security personnel, noting that their support added significance to the exercise and underscored the cordial relationship existing between the Base and its host communities.

The event concluded on a celebratory note with participants giving three hearty cheers in honour of the Commanding Officer, marking the successful completion of the Second Quarter Route March.
