A strong wave of grassroots political mobilisation is building in Ebonyi State as coordinators from across the 63 development centres have taken a bold step to reinforce support for Governor Francis Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Operating under the Ebonyi Forum of Coordinators, the group on Monday pooled a total of N50 million to secure the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governor, signalling early political alignment at the grassroots.

The contribution, presented at the APC state secretariat in Abakaliki, underscores what observers describe as a growing consolidation of support structures critical to electoral success in the state.
Chairman of the forum, Chidi Ogbonna, said the move was not just financial but strategic, aimed at sustaining continuity in governance.
According to him, coordinators who serve as the closest link between government and rural communities have directly felt the impact of policies and projects initiated by the current administration.
“Our decision is informed by what we see daily in our communities. Development is no longer limited to the urban centres; it has spread to the hinterlands,” he stated.
Ogbonna further disclosed that the forum has mapped out plans to activate its network across wards and polling units to galvanise voter turnout in favour of the governor.

Receiving the donation, the Ebonyi APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the gesture as a sign of political maturity and unity within the party.
He, however, charged the coordinators to translate their support into tangible electoral results, stressing that mobilisation at the grassroots would determine victory at the polls.

The development highlights the increasing role of local political structures in shaping the build-up to the 2027 elections in Ebonyi, with early endorsements and strategic positioning already taking centre stage.
