The Nigeria Police Force has dealt a major blow to armed banditry networks in Kaduna State following the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of high-powered weapons and ammunition in a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out the operation on 7th March 2026 in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, acting on credible intelligence that led to the apprehension of the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40).
A significant cache of arms was recovered during the operation, including four AK-47 rifles with magazines, eighty rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, one locally fabricated pistol, and twenty rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are allegedly connected to banditry and other violent criminal activities terrorising parts of the region.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the network and recover additional weapons believed to be in circulation.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to intensifying the fight against banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.
