IGP Disu Reaffirms Commitment to Criminal Justice Reforms, Police-NBA Collaboration

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to advancing criminal justice reforms, strengthening professionalism and deepening collaboration with key stakeholders in the justice sector.
Disu made the pledge on Monday while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The NBA delegation included Abdul Mohammed (SAN), First Vice President Sabastine Anyia, General Secretary Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, Chief of Staff Barbara Omosun, Salamatu Sidi, Etaba Agbor and Isaac Aduloju.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the NBA President commended the Inspector-General for ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
Osigwe also reaffirmed the association’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at promoting justice, the rule of law and improved service delivery. He further extended an invitation to the Nigeria Police Force to participate in the forthcoming NBA Annual General Conference.
In his remarks, the IGP reiterated the Force’s commitment to constitutional policing, respect for fundamental human rights and adherence to due process in the discharge of its duties.
He stressed the need for sustained engagement between the Police and the legal profession, noting that effective collaboration among criminal justice stakeholders remains essential to promoting accountability, protecting citizens’ rights and improving access to justice.
The IGP further assured that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to improve operational standards, enhance public confidence and deliver policing services in line with established laws and global best practices.
