Lagos Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover 250 Cartridges, Weapons in Major Crime Crackdown

The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its offensive against criminal elements with the arrest of 147 suspects and the recovery of 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, battle axes, knives, suspected illicit drugs and other dangerous exhibits during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, anipr, mipra, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026, saying the operation underscores the Command’s resolve to rid Lagos of criminal hideouts and enhance public safety.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., following credible intelligence. A joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command stormed criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo, and other identified black spots across the state to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the areas.
The Police said the raid led to the arrest of 147 suspects, while exhibits recovered included 250 expanded cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, assorted charms, 22 machetes, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
It added that all the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their individual culpability, noting that those found to have committed criminal offences will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across Lagos State to deny criminals any safe haven.
The Police Commissioner also appealed to residents to continue supporting the Command with timely and credible information capable of leading to the identification of criminal hideouts, arrest of offenders and improved security across the state.
He further urged members of the public to contact the Lagos State Police Command through its emergency lines whenever they have credible information or require police assistance.
