Lagos Police Commission New VCRU Base, Receive Operational Vehicles from LSSTF

The Lagos State Police Command has commissioned a newly renovated Operational Base for its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and received five additional operational vehicles, 1,200 raincoats and 1,000 pairs of operational boots from the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
According to SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, the facility, located at Ijora Olopa Oto Road behind the LAWMA Office, was commissioned on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai.
Adebisi said the donated operational assets would strengthen the Command’s crime-fighting capacity while improving the welfare, safety and effectiveness of police personnel.
He explained that the VCRU was established by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as a specialised tactical unit for rapid response to violent crimes, intelligence-led operations and coordinated enforcement actions across Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, CP Fatai said effective policing depends on sustained collaboration among government, security stakeholders and members of the public.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led and technology-driven policing to protect lives and property and maintain law and order.
The police commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for supporting policing infrastructure and operational capacity in the state.
He added that the renovated operational base and newly donated logistics would significantly improve the Command’s response to security threats.
CP Fatai also thanked Lagos residents for their continued cooperation and assured them of the Command’s commitment to making the state safer.
The event was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, security stakeholders, Area Commanders and other senior police officers.
