Nigeria’s policing community took a reflective turn in Abuja as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, joined dignitaries at the unveiling of two books authored by former police chief, Sunday Gabriel Ehindero.
The event, held at the Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja, featured the launch of Reflections on Policing and Security and My Adventure in Policing Nigeria, with former President Olusegun Obasanjo chairing the ceremony.

The development was confirmed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid.
In his remarks, Disu described the books as valuable intellectual contributions to modern policing, noting that they offer practical insights into the evolution of security operations in Nigeria.

He urged officers across ranks to cultivate a culture of research, documentation, and continuous professional development, stressing that knowledge-driven policing remains critical to effectiveness in a rapidly changing security landscape.
The IGP further emphasised the importance of preserving institutional memory, stating that understanding past experiences and reforms within the Force is essential to strengthening operational capacity and upholding the rule of law.

The book launch drew senior police officers, policymakers, and stakeholders in the security sector, underscoring growing interest in documentation and thought leadership within Nigeria’s law enforcement community.
