Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two security guards in connection with the alleged murder of a traveler in Ibafo area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Isikilu Dauda, 55, and Rasaki Abbas, were apprehended following investigations into the killing of the victim, simply identified as Promise.
In a statement issued to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred on April 10, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m. after a tip-off from a concerned resident.
Detectives from the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters were said to have swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they rescued the injured victim and rushed him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
While being transported to the hospital, the victim reportedly identified himself and disclosed that he had been attacked and macheted by security guards after arriving in the area late the previous night.
He was, however, confirmed dead on arrival by medical personnel, bringing a tragic end to efforts to save his life.
Police authorities said the body was subsequently documented and deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations revealed a trail of blood linking the crime scene to one of the suspects, which led to his arrest, while sustained operations resulted in the apprehension of the second suspect.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation, as efforts intensify to track down other fleeing accomplices connected to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that all those involved would be brought to justice, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
