A desperate attempt to erase the identity of a suspected stolen mini bus ended in failure after operatives of the Ogun State Police Command stormed a bush in Omu-Ijebu and arrested a 22-year-old woman linked to the operation.
The suspect, identified as Azeez Khadijat, was apprehended by detectives from the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters following intelligence that a group of three men and a woman were secretly repainting a Suzuki mini bus, popularly known as Korope, in a secluded area along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu.

Police said the incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, when officers moved swiftly to the location after receiving credible information.
On sighting the operatives, the suspects reportedly fled in different directions, abandoning the vehicle and other items at the scene. Khadijat was, however, arrested inside the mini bus.
Investigations revealed that the bus, originally painted yellow, was being changed to white and blue colours in what police believe was an attempt to disguise its identity and evade detection. The vehicle had no visible registration number at the time of recovery, though it was later traced to a Lagos State registration plate.

Items recovered from the scene included three mobile phones, a power bank, a paint can, sandpaper and a Type-C charging cord, all believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Police sources disclosed that preliminary findings suggest the mini bus may have been used for criminal operations in Lagos State before it was moved to Ogun for repainting.
The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, assuring residents that efforts had been intensified to track down the fleeing accomplices.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies promptly.
