The Ogun State Police Command has marked the 2026 World Malaria Day with a large-scale free medical outreach, providing malaria testing, treatment and preventive support to officers, their families and civilian staff in Abeokuta.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with The Life Projects and other corporate partners, held on April 24 at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ibara, Abeokuta, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare access within the police community.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, who signed the statement, said the outreach was themed “Driven to end malaria; Now we can. Now we must,” and focused on delivering essential healthcare services to beneficiaries.

Participants received free medical consultations, malaria parasite tests, anti-malarial medications, and Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets.
Health experts also conducted sensitisation sessions on environmental hygiene and preventive strategies to reduce malaria transmission within police barracks and surrounding communities.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the initiative reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the “Health is Wealth” principle, stressing that a healthy workforce remains critical to effective policing and public safety.

Ojajuni commended The Life Projects and its partners for their contributions, describing the intervention as a timely boost to the wellbeing of officers and a step toward improving community health outcomes.
