The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed as false a security alert circulating on social media alleging that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush located between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, police operatives were immediately deployed to the area following the report to verify the claim and assess the security situation.

Ikenga stated that preliminary findings revealed that the area remains calm and free of any suspicious objects or security threats.
”Findings revealed that the alleged location remains calm, with no suspicious objects or any security concerns observed. Normal activities continue within and around the area, while security operatives maintain routine surveillance to ensure public safety and sustain public confidence,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to disregard the false alarm and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and undermining confidence in the state’s security architecture.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and sustained collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain peace and security across the state.

The police commissioner also advised members of the public to verify security-related information through official channels and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
