Anambra Police, POCACOV Partner State Government Ahead Of Anti-Cultism Campaign

The Anambra State Police Command has intensified efforts to curb cultism and other social vices by securing the support of the Anambra State Government ahead of a statewide advocacy and sensitization campaign aimed at steering young people away from crime.
The initiative, championed by the Anambra State Chapter of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), comes ahead of the visit of the organisation’s National Coordinator and forms part of the Command’s broader community policing strategy focused on crime prevention through stakeholder engagement.
A delegation led by the State Coordinator of POCACOV, HRM Igwe Daniel Obelle of Nawfia, represented by Mr Moses Ndukwu, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) on Friday to brief the state government on the objectives, planned activities and expected impact of the campaign.
According to the delegation, the campaign is designed to strengthen public awareness against cultism, substance abuse, cybercrime, violence and other social vices through sustained advocacy and community participation. The team also sought the government’s partnership in promoting positive values and responsible citizenship among youths across the state.
POCACOV explained that the campaign would feature sensitization programmes in schools, communities, religious institutions and other public platforms to encourage peaceful coexistence, youth development and civic responsibility.
Responding, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, commended the Nigeria Police Force and POCACOV for the initiative, reaffirming the Anambra State Government’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote peace, security and the welfare of residents.
She also called for sustained collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the success of the campaign.
The Anambra State Police Command expressed appreciation to the state government for its support, reiterating its commitment to adopting non-kinetic crime prevention strategies, strengthening strategic partnerships and deepening community engagement to build a safer and more secure Anambra.
