The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State following the attack on Ariko Village near Gurara Dam.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
“The IGP directed the deployment of DIG Operations to Kaduna State to assess the situation and coordinate security efforts to restore order and secure the release of abducted victims,” he said.
According to the statement, the attack occurred on April 5, when armed bandits stormed ECWA and Catholic churches, killing five persons and abducting about 14 others.

Placid stated that a joint operation involving the police, Nigerian Army and Department of State Services yielded results.
“During the operation, the team led by DIG Nadada… rescued seven kidnapped victims,” he said.
He added that the rescued victims were taken to Katari Hospital for treatment.
“They are in stable condition and awaiting reunion with their families,” he noted.
The police spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the perpetrators.
“The IGP urges the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information to support ongoing efforts,” he added.
