IGP Disu Honours Fallen Officers in Zamfara, Vows Sustained Offensive Against Banditry

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday led tributes to three police officers killed in active service during a working visit to Zamfara State, declaring that their sacrifice would strengthen not weaken the resolve of security agencies to intensify operations against banditry and violent crime.
The IGP joined officers, bereaved families and members of the public at the Islamic funeral prayer (Salat al-Janazah) held in honour of the deceased officers and later visited the Zamfara State Police Command to commiserate with personnel and reinforce the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to restoring security across the state.
IGP Disu was received by senior government officials and security stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar M. Nakwada, who represented the Governor of Zamfara State during the funeral and related engagements.
Addressing officers and men of the Command, the Inspector-General described the slain officers as brave personnel who paid the ultimate price while confronting criminal elements threatening peace and stability in Zamfara State.
He conveyed the condolences of the Force Management Team and the entire Nigeria Police Force to the families of the deceased and assured them that the officers’ sacrifices would not be forgotten.
While acknowledging the painful loss, the IGP stressed that the incident would reinforce ongoing security operations targeted at dismantling bandit networks, kidnapping syndicates and other violent criminal activities across the state.
He urged officers to remain focused, resilient and professional, insisting that criminal groups would not be allowed to undermine efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace.
The Inspector-General also commended the Zamfara State Police Command for recent operational breakthroughs, including arrests of criminal suspects, recovery of explosives and other dangerous materials, retrieval of stolen motorcycles, rescue of kidnapped victims and successful offensives against armed bandits.
According to him, the achievements reflect the growing impact of intelligence-led policing, operational dedication and inter-agency collaboration in tackling security challenges.
IGP Disu further assured personnel of continued improvements in operational capacity, logistics, welfare and other critical resources required for effective policing.
He reiterated the need for intelligence-driven operations, stronger community partnerships and sustained collaboration with sister security agencies, noting that the most meaningful tribute to the fallen officers would be continued commitment to peace, security and justice for the people of Zamfara State.
The Nigeria Police Force, he added, remains committed to supporting its personnel and strengthening nationwide efforts to protect lives and property while confronting violent crime.
