In a move seen as a major boost to Nigeria’s internal security architecture, Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday paid a strategic courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja, where he called for deeper collaboration among security agencies to tackle emerging threats nationwide.
The police chief was received by the Commandant-General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, in what officials described as a significant step towards strengthening inter-agency cooperation and improving national security coordination.

During the visit, IGP Disu stressed that effective synergy among security institutions remains vital to maintaining peace, public safety and national stability.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to building stronger partnerships with sister agencies through intelligence-led policing and enhanced operational efficiency.
Responding, Audi praised the visit as unprecedented, noting that it was the first time a serving Inspector-General of Police had officially visited the Corps headquarters.
He described the gesture as a clear sign of commitment to unity among security agencies and commended the police for their continued support to the Corps in carrying out its responsibilities.

The NSCDC boss also proposed the creation of a joint Fusion Centre between the Police and the Corps to strengthen intelligence sharing, coordination and rapid response to evolving security challenges across the country.
Observers say the visit signals renewed determination by Nigeria’s security leadership to close operational gaps, improve cooperation and present a united front against criminality and insecurity.
