The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents of sustained security in Onitsha following the temporary closure of major markets.
The Command said joint security forces have remained proactive in preventing any breakdown of law and order.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to him, security agencies foiled attempts by miscreants to exploit the closure.

He said the operation involved the Police, Military, and NSCDC.
The statement noted that all forms of disruptive activities were successfully contained.
Ikenga revealed that some individuals attempted to incite violence through social media.
He warned against sharing unverified security-related videos.
He stressed that Onitsha remains calm and under control.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations is leading the joint team.
He said patrols and monitoring have been intensified.

Residents and traders were urged to remain law-abiding.
They were also advised to comply with government directives.
The police assured the public of continued protection of lives and property.
