The Seashores Global Network (SGN), an international platform dedicated to advancing leadership, scholarship, cultural intelligence and strategic dialogue across Africa and the diaspora, has formally invited former Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Ayo Aduba (Rtd.), Onwa of Onitsha, to serve as Guest Speaker and Resource Person at a high-level thought leadership engagement.
In a letter signed by the Secretary General of SGN, Dr. Michael Orjiako, the organisation praised Aduba’s commitment to truth, unity and intellectually honest discourse, describing his perspectives on issues affecting Igbo unity as timely and inspiring.
Dr. Orjiako noted that SGN shares similar values centred on courageous, informed and respectful conversations capable of driving societal progress and national development.
According to him, “Your clarity of purpose—anchored in the pursuit of truth, unity, and intellectually honest discourse—is both admirable and timely.”
He explained that SGN remains committed to promoting leadership and scholarly engagement across Africa and among people of African descent globally.
The proposed session, themed “Reclaiming Narrative Power: The Role of History, Archaeology, and Scholarship in Nation-Building,” is expected to examine the role of intellectual discourse, historical consciousness and scholarship in strengthening identity, unity and national development.
Dr. Orjiako further disclosed that Aduba’s vast experience and intellectual contributions would enrich the engagement and stimulate deeper conversations around nation-building.
He also referenced renowned Kenyan scholar and Pan-Africanist, Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, popularly known as PLO Lumumba, noting that Africa needs more bold voices capable of challenging prevailing narratives while remaining rooted in truth, history and vision.
“Your reflections on stimulating meaningful conversations—particularly on issues that affect Igbo unity—resonate strongly with our mission. At SGN, we believe that progress is born not out of silence, but from courageous, well-informed, and respectful dialogue,” the letter stated.
The SGN Secretary General also hinted at possible future collaboration with Aduba through the organisation’s academic platform, the Seashores Journal of Africa and Global Affairs (SJAGA), where his contributions could help shape thought leadership and scholarly discourse.
He expressed appreciation for Aduba’s openness and enduring commitment to truth and the advancement of society.
