The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Salihu Khan, describing his passing as a major loss to the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement, the Zone 2 Headquarters commiserated with the Lagos State Police Command and the family of the late officer.
Until his death, DCP Khan served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration at the Lagos State Police Command.
The AIG said the late officer left behind a legacy of dedication, discipline and professionalism.
According to him, DCP Khan was “an exceptionally dutiful, disciplined, and highly professional police officer whose commitment to service, integrity, and dedication to duty earned him the admiration and respect of both superiors and subordinates.”
He added that the deceased officer “embodied the finest ideals of policing and remained steadfast in the discharge of his responsibilities throughout his distinguished career.”
AIG Jimoh noted that news of the officer’s death came as a shock to the police community.
“The Nigeria Police Force has lost a dependable administrator, a loyal colleague, and a committed public servant whose contributions to the growth and development of the Force will always be remembered,” he stated.
The AIG said he joined the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, family members and friends in mourning the deceased.
He prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and asked Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late officer and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
DCP Salihu Khan’s death has created a void within the Nigeria Police Force and among colleagues who worked closely with him.
