Naija Police & U (Naijapoliceu) has announced plans to host the Gallant Officers Recognition & Welfare Initiative 2026, a virtual event aimed at promoting welfare, financial stability, and opportunities for serving and retired police officers.
The event, themed “Life After Police: Building Purpose, Welfare and Opportunities Beyond Service,” is scheduled to hold virtually via Google Meet on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to honour gallant officers who have distinguished themselves in service while also addressing issues relating to post-retirement welfare, career transition, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for police personnel.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, NPM, fdc, is expected to attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the forthcoming programme, Project Coordinator, Mrs. Chioma Okezie, said the initiative seeks to create a platform for discussions on life after active service and the welfare of officers.
She noted that many retired officers face challenges after leaving active service, stressing the need for deliberate efforts to prepare personnel for life beyond the uniform.
The event will feature presentations by prominent facilitators, including retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Abiodun Alabi, who will speak on “Life After Police: Building Purpose, Welfare and Opportunities Beyond Service.”

Also expected to speak is Dr. Victoria Ekhomu, Chairman of Transworld Security Systems Ltd., who will deliver a presentation on “Transitioning from Active Service to Retirement.”
Real estate and investment consultant, Dr. Obinna AzoNobi, will discuss “Beyond the Uniform: Leveraging Real Estate for Long-Term Financial Stability.”
The organisers said the programme would also focus on mentoring, welfare support, and creating opportunities that can help officers build sustainable lives after retirement.
Naija Police & U stated that the initiative aligns with its commitment to promoting positive policing, strengthening police-community relations, and recognising officers who have demonstrated courage, professionalism, and dedication to national service.
The organisation called on stakeholders, corporate organisations, security experts, retired officers, and members of the public to support the initiative and participate in the virtual event.
The Gallant Officers Recognition & Welfare Initiative 2026 is expected to bring together serving and retired police officers, security professionals, welfare advocates, and other stakeholders to discuss practical solutions to challenges facing officers beyond active service.
